Job Description
Support production of R&D lots through the fab. Perform complex experimental procedures for R&D based on engineer instructions. Perform inspections and non-standard metrology on R&D lots in support of development efforts. Work on assignments that are complex in nature, where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Candidate must be able to work independently, with little direct engineering support. The candidate will be responsible for lots in all fab areas and must be willing to learn how to run equipment in all areas, including metrology. This position is for an A2 or B2 schedule though A1/B1 would be considered for highly qualified candidates.

- Perform experiments to improve process or performance of processing equipment.
- Set up, monitor, and adjust process equipment.
- Set up and perform diagnostic tests and evaluate results.
- Set up special recipes/programs on tools to support R&D. Expectation that candidate would look to expand qualified toolsets to support these efforts.
- Disposition production lots that are out of specification limits and recommend changes to resolve routine problems.
- Assist in identifying and correcting process flow issues.
- Process test runs and conduct test for engineering to identify yield problems or development of new processes and capabilities.
- Evaluate procedures used by line operators and initiate action to resolve problems with R&D lots.
- Perform in-process control measurements and maintain records.
- Assist in training production personnel.
- Conduct pre-production operations and prepare detailed record of procedures and results.
- Analyze engineering process changes to determine most feasible method of implementation.
- Conduct processing experiments on devices to prove or improve engineering design.
- Conduct tests on devices/wafers by applying advanced techniques and criteria to obtain data required for process studies.
- Prepare detailed reports including test procedures, results or conclusions and recommendations for testing, process improvement or development and equipment evaluation.
- Establish procedures and in-process controls for new processes in conjunction with process engineering and operations personnel.
Working Environment:
Assignment Complexity - Work assignments are somewhat complex in nature; solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
Accountability/Discretion - Viewed as a recognized technical expert and demonstrates proficiency in more than one major production or test area. Perform tasks with little or no supervision.
Working Relationships - Interfaces with Production and Process Engineering to identify and resolve process-related issues, and provides technical guidance to other lower level technicians
Supervision - No direct management responsibilities
Working Conditions - Works in a fab clean-room environment
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of technical experience in the semiconductor industry.
- A thorough knowledge of semiconductor wafer processing, and a working knowledge of SPC, failure analysis, and various software monitoring tools.
- AA/AS degree or equivalent experience.
