Job Description

Provide capacity planning support for effective loading as well as future expansion of the San Antonio Fab.  Formulate and apply analytical modeling and other optimizing methods to achieve excellent performance metrics for productivity, cycle time, on time delivery, scheduling and line management.

Capacity Planning

  • Perform capacity modeling, taking ownership of in-house developed models.
  • Assist with capital planning, tracking both the proposed expansion plans and the Board-agreed plans.
  • Work with others (Production, Engineering, and Equipment) to ensure the capacities are clearly identified through thorough investigation and application of traditional planning models and tools.


Automation and systems

  • Identify objective operational metrics to accurately highlight performance improvement possibilities.
  • Design, maintain and implement databases and reporting systems to support performance and cost improvement initiatives.


Performance Reporting & Productivity Improvement

  • Ensure the business objectives are being achieved, or identify the reason why they are not.
  • Provide input into capacity metrics, utilization, availability, and cycle time expectations.
  • Develop and maintain models and metrics to measure equipment and factory capacity and output.
  • Identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
  • Actively communicate and work with others to improve performance through bottleneck analysis, hands on observations on the manufacturing floor, dispatching methodologies, and team-work.
  • Initiate projects to ensure cycle time and capacity requirements are achieved through completion of identified action plans, such as tool install and process qualifications.
  • Provide input to, and take guidance from, HQ for loading support, capacity planning, and performance measurement.

Communication & Influence – Interacts with internal and external personnel to promote ideas, get information, give advice, and standardize solutions.  Coaches and gives guidance to colleagues and higher levels on areas of expertise.

Supervision – Independent in the daily activities and gets general instructions on new tasks.  Handles complex tasks with minimal assistance.

Conditions – Normal office conditions and works in fab.  Travel may be required to support offshore activities.


Job Requirements

  • B.S.  Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Computer Science degree required.  Master's degree preferred
  • 4 years’ minimum experience in manufacturing and operations management techniques.  
  • Knowledge of the Semiconductor industry and the basic process for CMOS and Specialty manufacturing.
  • Strong quantitative and advanced analytical skills and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, data analysis and problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of database management methods and techniques.
  • Expert use of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Science (scheduling/dispatching, TOC, Lean, Push/Pull system, inventory management, capacity planning, etc.).
  • Experience in optimization, tool modeling and performance metrics.
  • Previous experience in Semiconductor environment is preferred. Knowledge of PROMIS is preferred.
  • Programming skills
  • VBA and SQL is required.
  • Knowledge in Java, PERL is preferred.
